Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Life Sciences “King Mihai I” from Timisoara

     

On May 8th, SuperMap signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Life Sciences “King Mihai I” from Timisoara, marking the establishment of a partnership aimed at advancing research and entrepreneurship in geospatial industry. The collaboration will focus on establishing a Research Center and joint efforts to drive innovation in sectors ranging from agriculture to environmental protection.


The MOU was signed during SuperMap delegation’s visit to USVT in Timisoara. Led by Roger Wang, Vice President of SuperMap and President of SuperMap International, alongside Gordon Yu, Europe-Africa Team Leader and Jeffery Zhang, Technical Manager, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Rector Prof. dr. ing. habil. Cosmin Alin Popescu, Ms. General Administrative Director Prof. dr. ing. habil. Adina Horablaga, Mr. Assoc. Prof. dr. ing. habil. Mihai Herbei, Head of the Department of Sustainable Development and Environmental Engineering from the Faculty of Agriculture and Mr. Piero Grimaldi, Visiting Professor.


The alliance will focus on two flagship initiatives: a Joint Research Center to pioneer advancements in remote sensing, GIS, and AI, and the cooperation between SuperMap and a company affiliated with USVT to develop and implement geospatial solutions in areas of interest such as: cadastre and urban planning, precision agriculture, engineering and environmental protection.
Rector Prof. dr. ing. habil. Cosmin Alin Popescu emphasized the partnership’s transformative potential that it bridges academia and industry, empowering students and researchers to tackle global challenges through innovation. Roger Wang echoed this sentiment, stating, “Combining our technological expertise with USVT’s academic excellence will accelerate solutions for sustainable development worldwide.”


The partnership marks SuperMap’s deepening European presence. SuperMap looks forward to advancing the development of geospatial industry and geospatial education in Romania through the partnership. Looking ahead, SuperMap will continue to promoting GIS technologies and solutions to various sectors for practical use and drive GIS innovation for a more sustainable world.
