The University of Life Sciences “King Mihai I” from Timișoara welcomes Egyptian Students for two-week training program

The University of Life Sciences “King Mihai I” from Timișoara (ULST) recently hosted a two-week academic and mostly practical training program for a group of students from BADR University in Cairo, Galala University, and Luxor University, all from Egypt. This experience was made possible under the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between ULST and the three Egyptian higher education institutions, reflecting the growing emphasis on internationalization and cross-border academic collaboration and also Erasmus+ staff mobility.
During their stay, the Egyptian students engaged in intensive and specialized training activities across four faculties of ULST:
Faculty of Agriculture
• Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
• Faculty of Bioengineering of Animal Resources
• Faculty of Management and Rural Tourism
The students were divided into groups based on their academic backgrounds and interests, each following a tailored agenda to ensure targeted and effective learning outcomes. The training sessions combined theoretical modules, hands-on laboratory work, and field visits to university research centers and local farms, offering the participants a comprehensive view of modern practices and innovations in life sciences.
During their experience here, the studdents acquired several competences:
advanced techniques in precision agriculture and crop management
• veterinary clinical practices and animal health monitoring
• biotechnological applications in animal resource management
• rural development strategies and sustainable tourism management, and also made new connections and established friendship with the Romanian students.
Throughout the program, the students were closely supervised and mentored by esteemed faculty members from their home institutions, in close collaboration with ULST academic staff involved, the Board of ULST, and the related services, especially the administrative ones.
This exchange initiative highlights some of the benefits of international partnerships in higher education:
enhanced academic cooperation and knowledge transfer between institutions
• cross-cultural learning opportunities for both students and faculty
• development of globally competitive skills and competences
• promotion of innovation and joint research initiatives
ULST remains committed to fostering international mobility and building bridges between universities worldwide. The successful implementation of this program not only enriched the participants’ educational experience but also strengthened the institutional ties between Romanian and Egyptian HEIs in the field of life sciences.
We are grateful to all ULST colleagues and services involved, for making this experiences possible!
